Belfast International Airport welcomes the reduction of UK Air Passenger Duty
27th October 2021. The UK Government has today announced a 50% reduction of UK Air Passenger Duty on all domestic flights within the UK. The charge will now fall from £13 to £6.5 per flight and will be applicable on both journeys on flights to and from Northern Ireland and Great Britain.

27th October 2021. The UK Government has today announced a 50% reduction of UK Air Passenger Duty on all domestic flights within the UK. The charge will now fall from £13 to £6.5 per flight and will be applicable on both journeys on flights to and from Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
With UK Domestic flights accounting for 80% of travel within Northern Ireland and no rail option, local travelers were at a non-acceptable disadvantage when it comes to air travel across the UK.
Graham Keddie, managing director, Belfast International Airport said: “Belfast International Airport has been calling for the removal of Air Passenger Duty for many years. The Chancellor’s announcement to reduce it by half for domestic UK flights is welcomed and appreciated for the benefit of UK’s travelers.
This will now provide us with an even market field to compete with airports in the Republic of Ireland and should contribute to air traffic recovery and assist local airports to attract new routes that will bring jobs and investment whilst providing a significant boost for the local tourism industry.”
