Belfast International Airport is preparing for its busiest day ever when just under 24,000 passengers will today pass through the Terminal.
Outbound flights will head to dozens of destinations, including popular holiday resorts on the Continent.
Belfast International Airport Operations Director, Alan Whiteside, said: “We keep achieving new monthly passenger records, and today will be no different.
“From our first flights out to late tonight, we will be operating non-stop. The apron will be one busy place as staff work to position aircraft and oversee the smooth loading and unloading of aircraft.
“Naturally, with numbers like these, we’d ask for passengers to give themselves plenty of time to process through security. Don’t leave it to the last minute to arrive at the Terminal, and please be mindful of the items you can and cannot take through security (details available at www.belfastairport.com/at-the-airport/security ).
“Today will be the busiest day in our history and this summer will see us achieve record passenger numbers.
“We’ve also noticed a welcome rise in the number of passengers coming to us from the Republic of Ireland and our advertising campaign in the six border counties in the Republic of Ireland, is making people aware of the added value they get by using Belfast International.
“All in all, Belfast International has never been as busy and there is no reason to believe that the upward trend will plateau anytime soon.”
