It’s hard to believe that Christmas is fast approaching once again.
We started putting up some decorations over the past week, as it takes quite a time to fully decorate the airport. By Friday, all was in place, and all we need was someone to switch on the Christmas tree lights.
With the help of Qradio, we ran a competition to pick a primary school class who could visit us and help with the lights and … P6G at Glengormley Integrated Primary School were the winners.
Together with their teacher Mrs L Garvin, teaching assistants, Mrs Burns and Mrs Gallagher and their Principal, Mr N Arnold, the class came to the airport and not only switched on the Christmas tree lights, but danced and sang in the snow …. which mysteriously appeared inside the airport terminal!
Mr Arnold: “the class has been so excited since the children discovered that they were going to visit Belfast International Airport and turn the Christmas Tree lights on.
“Not only that, but they are being treated to a special party at the Maldron Airport Hotel too! The day has just been a constant buzz of excitement!”
Deborah Harris, Belfast International Airport’s PR and Marketing Manager, commented “We’re delighted that P6G won the competitions to switch on the lights. The certainly brought a ‘buzz’ to the airport and helped kick off Christmas festivities.”
So, in what has been a record-breaking year for the airport with passenger numbers surpassing all previous years, we are now set for a wonderful Christmas.
