It’s not many businesses today who can boast service totalling 750 years, but Belfast International Airport is one which can.
An evening celebration at the nearby Maldron Hotel marked the long service of the 40 employees who made up those years.
One of the recipients of the award was Tommy Ringland who has clocked up over 40 years experience. Mr Ringland has held the positions of Civil Engineering Technician, Engineering Inspector and is currently Building and Civil Engineering Supervisor.
At the ceremony, Tommy expressed his delight in receiving his long service Award saying: “Not many in today’s world can say they’ve spent 40 years with one employer and are still going strong.
“Today the airport is going from strength to strength with additional flights and an increased number of passengers travelling through. I hope to be part of the team that helps this happen for some years to come.”
Jaclyn Coulter, Belfast International Airport’s Human Resources Manager, who has also received a long service award, said: “ It’s amazing to see so many employees staying with us for long periods of time.
“There is great scope for development at the airport. We find that our employees’ enjoy working here and take each career opportunity that is available to them. They really are the heart of the airport.”
