We’ve been getting festive here at Belfast International in the build up to the big day.
#TeamBIA have been adding the Christmas atmosphere to the arrival and departure halls with Christmas decorations, bedecking the arrivals corridor with lights and putting up the enormous tree.
However, the highlight had to be when 40 P3 children from Killinchy Primary School, accompanied by their teacher Ms Mandy McVeigh, arrived at the airport to switch on our Christmas tree lights. The children had entered a Christmas Competition organised by Q Radio and, not only did they get to switch the tree lights on, but they got a guided tour of the airport.
As they were touring the airport’s fire station, the firefighters spotted a special visitor, complete with red suit and white beard. Yes! It was Santa, checking out his delivery schedule in preparation for some deliveries he has to make later this month. He managed to spare a few minutes to remind the Killinchy Primary School children to be very good as Christmas approaches.
The festivities continue this week and next with a Text Santa Christmas Jumper Day and, two live radio broadcasts with Q Radio and U105.
So, if you are passing by, please call in and help us celebrate as families and friends travel through the airport as they fly out or return home for Christmas.
