60,000 travellers to pass through Belfast International Airport this weekend.
MORE than 60,000 passengers will pass through Belfast International Airport this weekend as the traditional summer holidays get under way.
The airport, which has just completed a major renovation programme, is preparing for another busy summer and passengers will see many changes as they make their way through the terminal building.
“We have many new catering outlets that have recently opened offering passengers excellent value and choice as they head off on their holidays. However as well as witnessing an exodus of mostly sun-loving travellers heading to global destinations, we are also getting ready to welcome tourists from all over the world.” said managing director John Doran.
He added; “Despite the economic gloom and the poor weather it’s clear our customers are determined to have a summer holiday and canny travellers are seeking good deals.”
With so many people set to use the airport this weekend and indeed over the coming summer months Mr Doran advised customers to make sure they are aware of the parking arrangements at the airport and the currently enforced security measures.
“The best deals on airport car parking are available online by booking in advance on the airport website with spaces available from as a little as £5 a day,” he said. “There is advice online about which car park to use depending on your length of stay.
“And to ease your passage through the airport please take note of the security advice available on the website concerning liquids and how they should be carried as well as the amount of hand luggage permitted.
“It’s important that passengers realise that the hand baggage regulations can vary from airline to airline and you should check with your airline for specific hand baggage allowances.”
Mr Doran said competition at the airport between the airlines was providing great bargains and choice to over 50 destinations.
“The strength of competition here between the airlines ensures the Northern Ireland traveller gets a good deal,” he added. “We’re looking forward to a busy summer.”
