Published: 08 April 2014

Leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, has plenty of reasons to celebrate. Not only did it scoop a top accolade, ‘Best Travel Internet Booking System,’ at the recent Northern Ireland Travel & Tourism Awards but it is also celebrating its 10th anniversary at Belfast International Airport.

Since its launch

Jet2.com

has grown from strength to strength, now giving local customers a choice of 14 popular city, sun and ski destinations and employing over 70 people. It has flown over three million NI holiday-makers to its popular locations since it set up its base in Belfast and this year alone it has added new ski destination, Salzburg, plus reintroduced Malaga due to customer demand. In addition it has increased frequency to popular family sunshine hotspots Faro and Tenerife.

Ian Doubtfire (pictured right) Managing Director for Jet2.com says: “The past 10 years have been a great success for Jet2.com at Belfast International Airport. From starting off with one destination we are now gearing up for our busiest year yet with more than 200,000 seats available for summer 2014. We’re also pleased with the popularity of our great value Jet2holidays package breaks and were thrilled to win the coveted ‘Best Package Tour Operator’ at the recent Northern Ireland Travel Awards.

“We are indebted to our loyal Northern Irish customers for their continued support. The success of both companies is also testament to our excellent team of staff who work tirelessly to ensure that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays continue to provide fantastic destinations and a top class service.”

John Doran (pictured left), Managing Director at Belfast International Airport added: “Jet2.com has made a real difference to holiday-makers in Northern Ireland and Belfast International Airport is delighted to be celebrating with the airline as it marks the tenth year of its Belfast base. Jet2.com now flies to 14 destinations from Belfast making it Northern Ireland’s second largest airline in terms of flight destinations. We wish them continued success.”
