Belfast International Airport scoops Gold award at Holiday Extras Customers’ Awards 2010

Belfast International Airport has been named Gold winner in the Best UK Airport category of the Holiday Extras Customers’ Awards 2010.

During the summer of 2010, more than 24,000 HolidayExtras.com customers cast their votes in the second annual Holiday Extras Customers’ Awards.
Travellers rated their air travel experience across twelve categories, voting for 112 airlines, 28 UK airports and hundreds of airport hotels, lounges, car parks as well as their favourite travel personalities – won by Julia Bradbury.
The UK travel industry’s accolades were presented by leading travel writer and TV personality Simon Calder at an exclusive event on Thursday 16 September at London’s Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA).
Other winners included Belfast International Airport customer airlines Aer Lingus, easyJet, Jet2.com and Continental Airlines.

Matthew Paxton, HolidayExtras.com’s chief operating officer, said: “ It was great to see so many of the industry’s best performers here to celebrate success, decided by the most important people in travel – our customers.
“I want to congratulate all of the winners and shortlisted companies on consistently providing top quality service which UK travellers have recognised. And good luck for next year!”

Deborah Harris, who collected the award on behalf of Belfast International Airport, said: “We are really delighted to receive this award and would like to extend out thanks to all the Holiday Extras customers who took the time to vote Belfast International as the UK’s Best Airport.  This award is in recognition of all the staff who work at the airport and give 110% every day to provide exceptional customer services to all our passengers.  We are particularly pleased that many of our customer airlines also received awards and look forward to working with all of them to continue to provide direct services to key markets at great value fares.”
