Airport unveils unique business opportunity

'Gateway at Belfast International Airport' opens doors to global economy.

IRELAND's second largest airport today announced the launch of a 100 acre business park located on the periphery of the airport, a strategic infrastructure designed to facilitate and drive commercial and economic growth in Northern Ireland.

'Gateway at Belfast International Airport', so named to reflect its prime location and accessibility to UK, Europe and beyond, is a mixed-use development expected to house a variety of business units.

The formal launch of this unique business park, at the Ormeau Baths Gallery in Belfast, attracted a good deal of interest from property developers throughout the country who were eager to hear more about Belfast International Airport's plans.

John Doran, Managing Director of Belfast International Airport, said: "The significance of Gateway cannot be understated. It is both an investment in the future of the economy of Northern Ireland and the wider economy of the northern part of the island as a whole.

"The location offers businesses access to a growing number of direct air routes to Europe and North America, but because the airport, being one of Northern Ireland's most significant economic assets, is the natural and sensible choice for expanding, forward-thinking businesses."

Douglas Wheeler, partner at commercial property consultants BTWShiells, sole agents for Gateway, said: "We are delighted at being chosen as sole agents for this unique development. A high calibre 'state of the art' development in a sought after location, Gateway has already aroused much interest from a wide range of businesses wishing to capitalise on what is a one-off opportunity."

The areas of land identified for development have been split into specific zones allowing for business, warehousing and distribution centres.

Current major occupiers within Gateway include Belfast International Airport, Royal Mail, TNT, DHL, UPS, British Airways Regional Cargo, Danzas and Geo Logistics.
