Airport customers triumph at NI Travel Awards

Flying High at Belfast International!

More than 430 VIPs and decision-makers from across the UK and Ireland were at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, Newcastle, on Friday, October 14 for the Awards hosted by Sky TV news anchorman Eamonn Holmes.

It was another night of celebration at the Northern Ireland Travel Awards as Belfast International Airport's airlines picked up 3 gongs at the ceremony on Friday evening.

The party continued well into the night as Aer Lingus picked up best airline to Europe, United Airlines (formerly known as Continental Airlines) picked up best worldwide airline and easyJet collected the best internet booking engine.

Leading tour operators Thomas Cook Holidays won the coveted Northern Ireland Tour Operator of the Year award with Falcon Holidays the trophy they won last year for the Best Sales Support Team.

Topflight received the Best Ski Operator award for the ninth time and popular businessman and travel industry luminary Mukesh Sharma was presented with the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Industry Award. Well known as a leading consolidator in the travel business and a great supporter of Northern Ireland plc Mukesh has been lobbying behind the scenes against the level of APD tax on flights and is a leading figure in the multi-cultural, highly successful Belfast Mela Festival.
