RAF Chinook lands at BIA

An RAF Chinook ‘workhorse’ flew into and out of Belfast International Airport as part of the effort to transport emergency food supplies to animals stranded by heavy snow in the Glens of Antrim.

The Chinook, once a familiar sight at the airport, joined the relief mission after the Agriculture Minister requested help from the Ministry of Defence.

The food airlift – the Chinook is capable of carrying a ten-ton load - got underway from the military side at Belfast International Airport on Tuesday.
