Christmas Travel Tips from Belfast International Airport
Published: 20 December 2012
If you are travelling through Belfast International Airport at this festive time of the year, we have put together some useful tips to help you on your way:
Many people will be travelling with Christmas presents in their luggage during the next few weeks, and quite often these will be wrapped up.
If you are taking the gift in your hand luggage and are aware of what it is, remember to check that it conforms to the DfT’s Liquids, Creams and Gels Policy: If any item has a container size bigger than 100ml, it cannot travel in your hand luggage. – Even if it is unopened and in a nicely wrapped gift box. If items are under 100ml, they can travel in your hand luggage but must be carried in a clear resealable plastic bag no greater than 1 litre capacity (and 1 bag per passenger). – In some circumstances, you might want to check the gift in as hold luggage rather than unwrapping it and popping it into a clear bag.
- Pack all sharp items such as metal cutlery, scissors and corkscrews in your checked-in luggage.
- Snow globes contain liquid and are subject to the same 100ml restrictions as other items. Please pack them in your hold baggage.
Christmas crackers are not permitted in hand baggage, some airlines do allow crackers in hold baggage – please contact your airline before you travel
Party Poppers and Fireworks
All party poppers, fireworks and any other pyrotechnics or smoke-emitting devices are prohibited from all passenger baggage.
