Aer Lingus flying high after four years in NI

ON the eve of their fourth anniversary of flying from Belfast, Aer Lingus has announced flying over 2.3 million customers to London and Europe since operations began on December 10, 2007.
Already just over one million customers have flown on the flagship Heathrow route and over one-and-a-quarter million passengers have flown to the continent.
And as a testament to the success of their European route service, for the second year in a row Aer Lingus has retained the award for ‘Best Airline to Europe ex. Belfast,’ as voted by Northern Ireland’s travel trade at the NI Travel and Tourism Awards in October.
Launching their 4th anniversary celebrations Declan Kearney, Aer Lingus Director of Communications reaffirmed their commitment to the travelling public in Northern Ireland and said that, “Aer Lingus as a company is in great shape and is here to stay.”
He added; “Even though all businesses are battling through an unprecedented period of global economic instability and uncertainty, our Belfast base is a continuing success story. Over the last four years we have received fantastic support here and we continue to meet our targets and deliver real choice and competition to the marketplace.
“Passengers are increasingly choosing Aer Lingus for their travel to and from Heathrow and we remain committed to our London Heathrow service.”
“Aer Lingus continues to invest in Northern Ireland and in four years we have captured 40 per cent of the Heathrow market through a combination of low fares and high value service on our three-times daily flights,” he said.
Mr Kearney continued; “We’ve created over 100 jobs, invested millions, offer nine routes and have carried over 2.3 million passengers who are attracted to our high service and low fares.
