Airport passengers set to fly through security

Published: 17 April 2013

New Priority Security lane launched

Passengers flying from Belfast International Airport can now fly through security by taking the fast track to the airport's security search area. The Priority Security service has been operating on a pilot basis for several weeks and costs just £3 per passenger.

The introduction of the Priority Security channel follows research from passengers that many people would consider using a service designed to speed their progress to the departure lounge.

Passengers can purchase Priority Security tickets on the day of travel at kiosks in the terminal. Following check-in, Priority Security passengers will simply make their way to a dedicated channel which takes them direct to the security search area.

Brian Carlin, Director of Commercial Development said at Belfast International Airport said:

"Our customers told us that they wanted more time to relax in the departure lounge, and less time spent in queues. We've listened and introduced improvements which have significantly reduced queues to the security search area.

In addition to the Priority Security channel our contract security company; ICTS have introduced a new self service boarding pass scanner at the main boarding card area.

The kiosks will allow passengers to scan their own boarding passes with minimal supervision from airport staff thus speeding up this part of the security process.”
