Belfast International Airport is doing its own bit of celebrating....for its small part in helping ‘The Shore’ to land a coveted Oscar in Hollywood.
The Terry George film, featuring Ciarán Hinds, Conleth Hill, Kerry Condon and Maggie Cronin, won the accolade in the live short action film category.
In the film, Joe, played by Hinds, arrives back in Northern Ireland after a 25-year absence to renew old friendships and clear up a few misunderstandings.
Joe and his daughter arrive in Belfast International Airport where they are welcomed by relatives.
The cast and crew spent time filming the short sequence before moving on to picturesque Killough in County Down.
Belfast International Airport Managing Director, John Doran, is delighted at the success of ‘The Shore’.
Said Mr Doran: “This Global recognition is richly deserved. Terry and the entire cast and crew of ‘The Shore’ worked their magic with an inspiring story.
“We were more than happy to help out by making the Terminal available to Terry and his team. This home-grown success is something for all of us to celebrate.
“This is part of the creative arts sector that offers great promise. For our part, we will continue to lend a helping hand to reinforce our growing international reputation for excellence by giving budding film-makers a backdrop and location they can use to showcase what Northern Ireland talent is capable of achieving”.
