Media Information
There is a 24 hour media facility at Belfast International
Airport. The office deals with a wide variety of media
enquiries from print and broadcast journalists and is also
responsible for all location filming and photography across the
airport site.
Belfast International Airport understands and appreciates
requests from media outlets to film at the airport, however in the
interests of fairness, and in order that we do not contravene CAA
and DFT regulations, we would appreciate your co-operation in the
following areas.
Photography and Filming Procedures
Permission must be obtained directly from the media office for
filming or recording prior to arriving on airport property.
This includes filming in the terminal, viewing gallery,
airport-owned car parks or in front of the terminal building.
Belfast International Airport will endeavour to facilitate all
requests for filming/recording Monday to Friday 9.00am - 6.00pm,
and will consider all reasonable requests to film outside these
hours.
All camera crews filming at Belfast International Airport will
be accompanied by a member of staff appointed by the press
office.
Filming on private company property without express permission from
Belfast International Airport will not be permitted.
In the unlikely event that permission to film is not granted, this
decision will be consistent across all media outlets.
Facilities for parking satellite vehicles in a convenient area can
be made available if notice is given prior to arrival.
Due to a shortfall in staff parking spaces, media personnel should
park in the main stay car park during their visit to the
airport.
Permission to film at the airport excludes filming of the
following:
- Security personnel;
- Security installations (check points, x-ray machines, security procedures);
- Airline logos or staff without express permission from the airline in question, (NB it is your responsibility to obtain this directly from the airline);
- Commercial outlets ie shops or restaurants (as these belong to third parties, not the airport).
If you plan to film airside and have been given permission to do so, you will be escorted at all time by a member of Belfast International Airport personnel and you must bring photographic identification, (either driving license, both plastic and paper parts, or a passport) in order to obtain a temporary visitors pass. Press passes, union cards or any other form of photographic identification will not be accepted, as stipulated in the current Department for Transport regulations.
