Partnerships are vital, and almost all our contributions will involve working constructively with a wide range of groups as highlighted above.
Belfast International Airport understands that CSR goes beyond charity and there is a requirement to take into account the impact of core business decisions on both those impacted by the company and the environment, while balancing the need to run a profitable business.
By developing a policy for CSR we intend to formalise this commitment to operating in an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable way that is sensitive to the needs of those impacted by the business.

Belfast International Airport recognises the importance of establishing and maintaining links with local schools and colleges.
We will therefore develop programmes with individual schools and colleges to suit their educational needs. This will include but is not limited to the following:

- Presentations to local interest groups

Environmental Noise Directive Action Plan
Belfast International Airport has prepared a Round Two Noise Action Plan in accordance with the European Union Environmental Noise Directive (Directive 2002/49/EC) also known as the ‘END’.
The directive is implemented by The Environmental Noise Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006,
This Noise Action Plan, which can be downloaded at the bottom of the page, aims to manage and where possible reduce the impact of noise arising from the airport operations during the period 2013 – 2018. It reflects our commitment to controlling any adverse effects of our operations and minimising their impact on the local community in which we operate. In respect of noise this means implementing industry best practice to limit and reduce, where necessary, the number of people affected by noise arising from our operations.
Airport Consultative Forum
The Belfast International Airport Consultative Forum was established under Article 20(1) of the Airports (Northern Ireland) Order 1994, and follows Government guidelines for Airport Consultative Committees.
Membership of the independently chaired Airport Forum comprises stakeholders from the local and business communities, as well as airport and airline representatives. The forum provides a forum for consultation, communication and feedback on the Airport’s operations and future developments.
The forum will meet three times a year at Belfast International Airport.
- To help BIA understand and respond to passengers’ expectations and needs;
- To advise BIA on measures to enhance and develop the facilities and services to assist BIA in their strategic objective of increasing passenger, airline and destination growth;
To review passenger information (internal, external, multi-media) through the eyes of the public and provide recommendations to BIA;
- To review the extent to which passenger and airline/service satisfaction surveys are “fit for future purpose” and provide recommendations to BIA, and to commission research/surveys as felt appropriate on behalf of BIA;
- To identify external gaps that limit the passenger growth and/or experience including infrastructure, aviation strategy, value for money, accessibility, regulation etc.
- To fairly represent the interests of BIA where appropriate.
